Project Publication
Publication allows you to send your project as well as updates to Runtime Workstations.
Requirements
Publication requires the IPFusion - Project Sync service on each machine using PrismUI. This service is responsible for updating the files on Workstations and is installed with PrismUI.
Workstation Status
When publishing a project, you can view information about each Workstation including its state. The states are:
- Service is waiting — The sync service is available and the Workstation can be published to.
- Update in progress — The Workstation is being updated with the last pushed update.
- Service not found — Designer is unable to communicate with the sync service. This can be due to a network issue or the service not running.
Publication Server Status
When publishing a project, you can view the status of the Publication Server. It can have a state of Available or Not Connected. You can only publish if the status is Available.
If you are unable to connect to the publication server, this may be due to:
- Incorrect Publication Server address in Project Settings
- Network issue
- Publication sync service is not running on server
Publish vs Force Publish
When publishing, you may have updates which you want to allow the Workstation operator to choose when the update is accepted. This allows them to choose a convenient time to complete the update. In this case, you would use the Publish option. Once the update is sent to the Workstation, a red bar will appear at the top of the Runtime screen notifying the operator that there is an update. They can then select that bar to complete it.
If you do not want to allow the operator to have any input for the update, however, you can instead use Force Publish. This will update Runtime immediately and requires no user input on the Runtime Workstations. This is ideal for critical updates which cannot wait, or if you know the Workstation is not currently in use.
